Composer/Producer/Performer

Mahuia is an award winning composer who holds a Masters of Music in performance violin. After finishing his studies in Sydney, Australia he came home to Auckland, NZ to set up shop as a composer/producer in conjunction with music production house Franklin Rd. Here he has composed music for the likes of VW, ASB, State Insurance, Watties, Kia, McDonald's, Farmers, AA Insurance, Sky TV, Toyota, Vodafone, Spark, TVNZ, TV3, Fresh Up, Sanitarium and LTNZ (Ghost Chips).  

Mahuia has won both the APRA Best Film Score and the APRA Maioha Award, he has also been previously nominated for Best Film Score for Legend Of Baron To’a, Housebound and Fantail at both the APRA Silver Scrolls and The NZ Film Awards. Other nominations include the APRA Silver Scroll Award for best original song and Axis Soundtrack of the Year. He is also founding member of The Black (String) Quartet.

He has produced, composed and performed for a variety of artists, directors, ensembles and production houses, including Netflix, E-Line Media Games, L.A.B, World Of Wearable Arts, Lee Tamahori, TEEKS, Tom Scott (Avantdale Bowling Club) Lawrence Arabia, Maisey Rika, Electric Wire Hustle, The New Zealand Symphony, Ladyhawke, X-Factor NZ, Moana and The Tribe, The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Vodafone Music Awards, Kid Kenobi and Hayley Westenra to name a few.
